Simba Mattress Topper Review UK – Adaptable For All Sleepers

Last Updated on 25 Jun. 2020

When your mattress starts to lose its shape and support it’s always difficult to decide whether you should buy a topper or put that money towards a new mattress. I was always one to lean towards the new mattress until I tried the Simba Hybrid topper.

The first thing I noted about it was it had outstanding customer reviews on Amazon and I can say now, after trying it that I fully agree.

The topper is thick enough that it fully covers whatever old mattress sins you need to hide. It’s soft and hugs around you as you sink into it. Normally, using a soft mattress I end up with aches and pain in my back but not this time. The Simba topper is super supportive. I enjoyed a full 8 hours, uninterrupted sleep, and woke up feeling refreshed, no pain or stiffness at all!

It molds well to your body and doesn’t slip around on the bed like other toppers tend to.

Simba offers a 14 day trial period on this topper so if you decide you don’t like it then no worries, just send it back and receive a full refund.

For a mattress topper the price is fairly high so what makes Simba a good option to choose over cheaper products?

Simba is a long established, family business that have managed to sell over 1 million mattresses worldwide. They have hired experts in sleep technology all with a common goal, to help you find your perfect night’s rest.

Simba is a direct to consumer business so this means the supply chain is very short. This saves you spending money on processing and so the money you spend gets you superior quality for the price.

Over the years they have perfected the balance of foam layers, pocket springs, and their unique Simbatex (a cooling, comfortable top layer made from their own formula of open-cell foam).

The Simba mattresses have taken this country by storm and can be found at John Lewis, Benson for Beds as well as many local independent stores if you want to check the products out in store before you buy.

Online, Simba offers a 14 day trial on this Simba Hybrid mattress topper so you can test it out before you fully commit.

Similar to a Simba hybrid mattress the Simba mattress topper is engineered for superior comfort. The Simbatex top layer used as opposed to a synthetic latex layer gives a cool soft comfort and the 2500 conical pocket springs offer support and pressure relief. A firm base layer holds together the structure of the topper to give high density support and low motion transfer so your partner moving about won’t disturb your comfort.

The cooling comfort of open cell foam Simbatex plus the supportive pocket springs offer a balanced sleep surface that will transform any tired old mattress into a comfy refuge that’s perfect for side sleepers, back sleepers, and front sleepers alike!

The mattress topper has an anti-slip base, so even if you’re a wriggly sleeper this one will stay put! To add to the staying power, Simba has added wiggle-free straps to give a secure and peaceful sleeping experience.

Simba has developed a unique patented mattress topper by utilizing its patented conical spring technology. This design allows “zoned movement” where supposedly you can stand a glass of wine at one end and bounce at the other without spilling a drop! That being said, I’d try with an empty glass first!

The unique springs are tailored to adapt to your body, no matter what position you like to sleep in or whatever unique pressure points you suffer with. This means that anybody type and shape can use this topper, you don’t need to worry about getting something different for the spare room.

The springs give this topper similar characteristics to a memory foam mattress topper (good support and low movement transfer) but the design allows more airflow, so if you’re prone to getting overheated at night this is a good option for you!

Topper Close Up

The cover has a removable top half that you can stick in the washing machine to help keep it clean and hygienic. It’s a soft, breathable material so even on the hottest nights, won’t trap heat next to your body as you sleep. It’s hypoallergenic so suitable for people with asthma or dust mite allergies.

Instead of latex, Simba has designed their own special Simbatex which is an open cell foam which doesn’t trap in heat. Suitable for those with latex allergies it’s a graphite material. It’s less bouncy than latex and this makes it one of the best mattress toppers for all-round comfort.

Designed to hug around your body and give you the illusion of a brand new mattress these unique pockets springs put the Simba hybrid topper out on top when it comes to mattress reviews. Similar support to a memory foam topper but better airflow and temperature regulation, the pocket springs make this topper ideal for all seasons.

To add to the motion transfer benefits of the Simba topper the anti-slip base holds this product in place securely. The anti-wiggle straps add extra hold and allows this to work well when used with many different mattresses.

SUPER KING SIZE: Width 180cm, Length 190cm, Depth 7cm

Roll it up and off you go! The snug fit straps allow you to roll it up and use these to fix it in place.

I used to think that ease of transport option seemed silly for a mattress topper, I mean, where would you be taking it?

Then last year I visited a holiday home to stay with family and the beds were truly awful. I switched rooms with someone but that didn’t help. After a busy week of activity with almost no sleep and a sore back at the end of it, I wish I’d taken this topper with me then!

At 7cm thick you can’t feel any lumps or bumps in the old mattress underneath. I found even with my awkward side sleeping position that my hips and shoulders were fully supported and I couldn’t feel the old bed underneath.

Can I use a fitted sheet with this topper?

Yes, you can but you will need one that’s deeper than average to accommodate the height of the topper. Allow for an extra 7cm height alongside your mattress height to ensure the sheet will fit.

What size of mattress can be used with this topper?

Uk single, small double, double, king and super-king all have size options on the Simba website. Unfortunately, EU mattress options won’t fit this topper.

Can I wash the topper?

The top half of the protective layer can be removed and machine washed at 40C. It can be air dried or tumble dried on a low heat setting.

Is there anything special about the delivery?

The delivery should be very straight forward. The topper arrives rolled and boxed so it won’t take up loads of space.

Do I need to air it before use?

The Simba topper arrives rolled up and it’s best to give it 2 hours to flatten and unroll. It can be used after 2 hours but if possible, give it 24 hours to fully expand before use.
