Simba Hybrid Pillow Unzipped With Nanocubes And Bag

Is there such a thing as a one size fits all pillow? Simba Sleep doesn’t think so. That’s why they made one pillow, with adjustable height, so that it can fit all.

It’s a really simple, yet clever, design.

Everyone has a different sleep style. Whether you’re a front sleeper, back sleeper, or a side sleeper; you need a different pillow depth to suit you. Not to mention how absolutely everyone has a different body shape.

That’s only the shape as well. We need to consider breathability, temperature regulation, and hypoallergenic qualities.

So everyone has different needs in their pillow.

Have Simba Sleep engineered one pillow for all? I think they might have actually managed it. Undoubtedly, they’ve landed close to the mark.

WHAT IS IT MADE OF?

The Simba pillow, being a hybrid pillow, contains both springy microfibre and supportive memory foam fillings. But this pillow is so much more than just a combination of two fillings.

The pillow is made of three particular layers, but two of those layers have a twin on the other side of the pillow, so there are really five layers.

Let’s talk about all of the layers of this unique piece of space-age engineering.

Simba Hybrid Pillow Exploded Diagram

1. Top Layer – Stratos Cotton Cover

This is truly part of the cover. It is cotton, imbued a clever technology that Simba has named Stratos. They describe it as phase change technology.

Sciency mumbo jumbo aside; it keeps you cool. It allows unwanted heat and moisture to dissipate.

This is the side they intend for you to lie on. This is the cool side of the pillow. It ensures you stay at a comfortable body temperature throughout the night.

2. Second Layer – Aerelle Cool Night Fibres

Under that top cotton cover is the first of the two filling materials that give this pillow the title of hybrid.

It is a special microfibre filling called Aerelle cool night fibres. This is a nice thick breathable layer of padding which has been designed to allow for excellent airflow.

This Aerelle layer works in tandem with the Stratos cotton cover to keep you cool through the night.

3. Third Layer – Nanocubes

Simba Nanocubes and Drawstring Bag

This is the clever layer.

In an earlier version of the Simba Hybrid Pillow; this layer was made of Nanotubes. We’re not talking about nanoscience here. In this case, Nanotubes were tube shaped lumps of visco-elastic memory foam.

In this latest version of the Simba pillow; this layer is made is Nanocubes. Cube shaped lumps of visco-elastic memory foam.

Memory foam cubes fill the middle of this pillow. It gives the unique support of memory foam, but with more give and breathability.

The gaps between the cubes allow for airflow unseen with any other kind of memory foam. To boost this breathability, the Nanocube layer is framed with a breathable mesh border which also connects the cotton cover on both sides of the pillow.

Now that brings me to the best feature of this pillow. The feature that makes it a one size fits all pillow.

There is a zipper along this mesh side panel. You can add or remove Nanocubes to adjust the height of the pillow so that it is the perfect depth for you.

That’s right! You can give this pillow the perfect amount of stuffing for just you. Whether you’re a side sleeper, back sleeper, or a stomach sleeper, you can adjust this pillow to be just right for you.

4. Fourth Layer – Microfibre

This is a microfibre layer similar to the second layer, but it is not Aerelle fibres, it is a standard microfibre.

Microfibre, being a synthetic fibre, is hypoallergenic. If you suffer from hay fever, eczema, or react to dust mites; then there’s no need to worry, this pillow is allergy-friendly.

5. Bottom Layer – Breathable Cotton

The final layer is the bottom side of the pillow. The side of the cover which is designed to be underneath.

It is made from lovely soft cotton which comes from BCI sources.

BCI is short for The Better Cotton Initiative. It is like a fairtrade programme just for cotton. BCI promotes high standard of sustainability and welfare and helps cotton producers, and their local communities, to improve their livelihoods and economic development.

COMFORT AND SUPPORT TAILORED TO YOU

Microfibre is famously soft. Memory foam is famously supportive. Put them together and what do you get? One darn soft yet supportive pillow!

The memory foam Nanocube core provides the amazing support of memory foam, but also allows you to adjust the height of the pillow to be just the perfect depth for you.

Too high? Take some Nanocubes out.

Too low? Just stuff more Nanocubes in there.

Simba Nanocubes

To put the cherry on the cake for convenience, you won’t be inundated with spare memory foam cubes. The pillow comes with a neat drawstring bag to keep all your spare Visco Nanocubes in.

While still being very supportive, the memory foam core does not have the same feel as typical memory foam pillows. The Simba Hybrid Pillow’s memory foam core has more give and snugglyness. You’re able to sink into it a bit more.

This is because the Nanocube memory foam core, well, lots of bits of foam. Whereas typical memory foam pillows are one big piece, or layers, of memory foam.

Simba Sleep has really rewritten the memory foam rule book.

Why Memory Foam?

  1. Moulds to your shape. Memory foam is a material which was designed by the clever people at NASA. Your body heat makes it softer, when you lie on it, it moulds and contours to your exact shape.
  2. Pressure Relief. By forming to your exact shape; memory foam is able to support and relieve unwanted pressure on your joints. This helps you to get comfortable in your favourite sleeping positions and helps to promote healthy spinal alignment. If you suffer from neck pain or back pain; memory foam might just be your solution.
  3. Hypoallergenic. Memory foam is a hypoallergenic material. It does not attract allergens such as bed bugs, dust mites, pollen, and mould.
  4. Durable and Long Lasting. Memory foam pillows are among the most durable pillows available. This is certainly one of the more pricey pillows, but it will certainly last a long time.
  5. Ideal for All Sleeping Positions. By both moulding and contouring to your body shape, and being able to add or remove Nanocubes, this pillow can be adjusted to suit all sleeping positions.

Clean And Fresh

Crisp, clean, and fresh bed sheets are an absolute must-have in my book. I love freshly cleaned bedding.

Simba Sleep clearly agrees. The pillow outer is machine washable at 40°C. Just remove the memory foam Nanocubes and pop it in your washing machine.

What Size Is It?

The Simba Hybrid Pillow will fit inside of all standard pillowcases. The dimensions of the pillow are:

50cm x 75cm x 18cm

Simba Hybrid Pillow Final Thoughts

FINAL THOUGHTS

This is without a doubt one of the best pillows I have reviewed. Although it is also one of the most expensive pillows; it is very high quality.

Do you need a supportive pillow, but don’t like the firmness of regular memory foam? Do you like softness but find microfibre isn’t supportive enough? Do you find yourself with allergic reactions to traditional pillow types such as feather pillows?

Do you have a hard time finding a pillow with just the right depth?

Enter the Simba Hybrid pillow. The sweet spot in the middle of the Venn Diagram of pillows.

It has excellent breathability and temperature regulation unparalleled by other standard memory foam pillows. It has great support unparalleled by other standard microfibre pillows.

I think it goes without saying, but I’m going to say it anyway, my absolute favourite feature of this pillow is its adjustable height.

Too lofty? Just take some Nanocubes out.

Too low? Stuff some more Nanocubes in.

Everyone needs a pillow of different height for a comfy good night’s sleep. Because everyone has a different sleep style and everyone is shaped differently. The Simba Hybrid Pillow is an adjustable, one-pillow-for-all, solution in a world where everyone needs a different pillow.

While the Simba Hybrid Pillow is available at different retailers such as John Lewis and Amazon, I recommend buying straight from the source because Simba Sleep offers customer service which is second to none.
